COLLECTION FROM THE MOORHOUSE

You are welcome to call in at The Moorhouse and collect your flowers from our workshop ( “The Bothy”). We are 7 miles north of Duns. Just let us know when you would like to pick them up and we will have your order ready for you. Don’t forget to bring a bucket if you are collecting a bouquet or bundles of loose stems! Whilst we are constantly amazed at the power of modern technology, SatNav directions to The Moorhouse, here in rural Berwickshire, aren’t always accurate. So here are some old-fashioned route directions.

From the North or South A1 trunk road.

Turn off the A1 at Grantshouse, onto the A6112 signposted Duns. Cross the railway bridge and immediately turn right onto a single track road signposted Butterdean and Quixwood. Continue for three miles until you come to a T junction. Turn right and park on the gravel at the front of the house.

From Duns

Take the A6112 from Duns signposted Grantshouse. Ignore the left hand turn (B6355) signposted Abbey St Bathans. Proceed through the village of Preston and three miles further on turn left signposted Edin’s Hall Broch. Continue for a mile and a half and you will see The Moorhouse on your right. Park at the front of the house.

From the car park, by the ford, in Abbey St. Bathans

Leave the car park, crossing the (very) narrow bridge. Turn right and continue through the village passing the church, farm buildings and village hall. Cross the River Whiteadder and follow the wiggly road for about three 3 miles. At the T junction, turn right and continue across the moor for one and a half miles. We are the yellow house on the left.

We’re off the beaten track here, in the foothills of the Lammermuir Hills. Feel free to park your car at the front of the house and take a walk down the track to explore the secluded village of Abbey St. Bathans. Sample the delights of the splendid Woodlands Cafe just twenty minutes walk from The Moorhouse, or take a picnic down to the banks of the Whiteadder. The Southern Upland Way passes close by and takes you westwards towards Longformacus, or eastwards to the pretty harbour at Cove. Alternatively, if you fancy a really bracing walk, climb up to Edin’s Hall Broch to see the remains of the Iron Age fort. And if you need to top up charge on your electric vehicle, we have a plug conveniently located just by the entrance for you to help yourself.

We regret that we are unable to send flowers by post or deliver to other areas of the UK. Please note that our floral designs are individually created, so they may vary from the images shown.
