Floral Creations for St. Valentines Day

Seasonal, Sustainable, and Scottish

Grown here, not flown here - our message for St Valentines day. Of course, here at BordersEcoFlowers, we dare to deviate from the norm, there will be no offer of red roses from us! For if you cast an eye on the rose bushes growing in your own garden or if you stroll round your public park on the 14th of February, you haven’t a chance of seeing a red rose in full bloom. In Scotland, roses, for the most part, flower in Summer, so they are off the menu in February in what is still, meteorologically speaking, the last month of Winter.

So we choose to be different, to offer those botanical beauties which are truly seasonal, to give St. Valentines Day a sense of time and place. Our ingredients come straight from the garden - pure white snowdrops, cheery yellow aconites, and beautiful hellebores. We combine these delicate flowers with hazel stems dripping with catkins, red dogwood stems and fresh evergreens to create sustainable and seasonal floral creations.

So you can be sure that your St Valentines Day gift will have clocked zero air miles and will have a low carbon footprint. Choose from a floral heart with clear white snowdrops, a quartet of posies reminiscent of a walk in the woods, a birch heart ready to hang outside, or a gift certificate so your loved one can choose to come to one of our popular workshops.

A St Valentines Day Heart

We create these gorgeous bespoke hearts on a wire frame with a fresh moss base and lots of seasonal evergreens. They are peppered with pure white snowdrops. Ideal to hang outside on the front door, gate, fence or favourite tree. Presented in a gift box with a handwritten message. We offer three sizes

small 12inch 30cm £30

medium 15inch 38cm £50

large 18inch 45cm £70

A quartet of February Posies

Not just one posy, but four posies, presented in a wooden box. Inspired by the beautiful woods around Abbey St Bathans, we combine delicate snowdrops with birch, hazel and seasonal evergreens to evoke a winter stroll through the woods. A quartet of February posies £35.

A beautiful birch heart

The birch tree is often described as the ‘Lady of the Woods’. In winter, it is easy to identify its tall graceful silhouette with its arching branches, each covered with rich mahogany coloured bark. For a florist, the stems are delicate and flexible, just the right qualities that we need to create all kind of structures including our popular birch hearts. We add a seasonal posy to the heart, so it is all ready to hang outside on the recipients door, gate, fence or favourite tree. Height approximately 15inches. £35

A Gift Certificate

With our gift certificate, you can give your loved one a workshop with Bridget ( how to make a hand-tied bouquet perhaps, or how to make an autumnal door wreath. The recipient simply needs to contact us to book a date and time. £40.
