Garden Open Day

The Moorhouse, Duns, TD11 3RY

Sunday 23rd June 2024. 1-5pm

£5.00 Children free

Last summer (2023), we joined with Scotlands Gardens Scheme to open our garden for charity. Proceeds were donated to Scotlands Garden Scheme Charities and our local charity, here in Duns, Borders Pet Rescue. We had a wonderful, though windy afternoon, showing visitors aroiund our plot. And we are going to do the same in 2024. A little earlier in the year, this time June 23rd, so visitors can see different range of plants in flower.

Mike and Bridget will be on hand to answer questions on all aspects of flower growing.

Don’t worry if you can’t tell your ranunculus from your roses, or your polemonium from your paeonies! See how we grow our cut flowers at this exposed moorland location. And as you have probably figured out from our business name (the ‘eco’ bit), we use organic principles in the garden. Come and see for yourself the methods, pros and cons, that we use. Find out which varieties we grow, how we produce buckets of long straight stems and how we create our fabulous bouquets and stunning floral creations.

    How to find us

Whilst we are constantly amazed at the power of modern technology, SatNav directions, here in rural Bewrwickshire are not always accurate. So here are some old-fashioned route directions

From the north or south A1 trunk road.

Turn off A1 at Grantshouse, onto A6112 signposted Duns. Cross the railway bridge and immediately turn right onto single track road signposted Quixwood and Butterdean. Continue for three miles until you come to a T-junction. The Moorhouse is the yellow house on the right hand side.

    From Duns.

Take A6112 from Duns signposted Grantshouse. Ignore the left hand turn (B6355) signposted Abbey St Bathans. Proceed through the village of Preston, and three miles further on turn left signposted Edin’s Hall Broch. Continue for a mile and a half and you will see The Moorhouse on your right.
